It's Drone Tuesday at 360PSA, where we discuss the implications of drones for the private security industry.

Introducing the drone in focus:

Netra 5 by ideaForge - launched last month.

The drone has been launched for "defence and security use" as per their press release.

The maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of the drone is less than 8 kgs, and it boasts an impressive flight time of 75 minutes!

Netra 5 is capable of RTL / RTH in GNSS denied environments, target tracking, people detection and counting, terrain hugging, area, and line of interest missions.

It also features all-weather radar sensors and obstacle detection and avoidance, ensuring safe operations in complex environments.

The drone incorporates a modular design, with a primary payload that includes dual electro-optical and infrared sensors.

It also has a secondary payload bay that supports an open communication protocol, enabling easy expansion and customization of additional payloads.

To be honest, it feels like one of the most significant technological leaps when it comes to Indian drones.

So what are the implications for the private security industry?

More than an implication, it is a wake-up call.

While downloading the detailed brochure for Netra 5, I had to select my industry from a drop-down list.

The list had 20+ options, but "private security" was not one of them.

How sad is it that private security as an industry, does not even find a mention for a drone launched for "defence & security" ?

There's nobody else to blame but us.

It's high time that we start educating ourselves on this technology, which is inevitably going to become an integral part of our operations.

Here is another piece of news for you.

Mumbai police have banned drones from April 4 to May 5 in light of aerial threats.

As per the order, terrorists and anti-social elements might make use of drones in their attacks and target VVIPs, endangering people's lives, as well as to destroy public property and cause law and order disturbances.

While today the order is for state-protected assets, tomorrow the same threats can endanger privately protected assets as well.

Assets that you could be securing.

Are you prepared with a response strategy?

The point is, drones ARE here to stay and maybe even dominate the security landscape.

And the need to adopt them is not 10 years down the line.

It is NOW.

Therefore, your preparation must start today!

We, at 360PSA, are committed to making our partners future-ready.

And the future belongs to only those who prepare in the present.

If this makes sense to you, then get in touch ASAP!
